I’m learing to be a parent to my children when they’re hundreds or thousands of miles away. I moved here 4 weeks ago. It’s my first time living outside of North Carolina. After my divorce I went back to school for Neuro Diagnostic Technology (EEG studies during brain and spine surgery, brain mapping, epilepsy monitoring, etc.) and got a job here. My 23 year old moved to LA and other than issues with his partner, he’s doing well. My other son (27) is sick. At 13 he was diagnosed with PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections), it looks like OCD and Turrets. He’s getting support from his father now, but I’m trying to figure out how to support him from 800 miles away. I feel guilty moving away, but he wanted me to take this opportunity, he doesn’t want to be a burden.
