I just came back from a meeting about the union struggle at Loyola. A lot of students here don’t really care, but it’s really important for non-tenure track faculty, adjunct faculty, to unionize. After all their hard work to get their PhD’s it’s not right that they’re making basically poverty wages. Many of them struggle to pay rent or even buy food, while tenured professors and university admin are paid much better. Everyone should get liveable wages. The fact that admin isn’t giving it to them doesn’t really make sense.
