I help kids from overseas apply for college here. It’s more complicated than you think. It’s mostly a lot of super rich kids, but this one time I got to work with this kid from middle of nowhere China who really wanted to come to Northwestern. He went to a lot of big companies who rejected him, even I didn’t really think he’d make it since he didn’t have the best test scores, but he was determined. We spent 3 full weeks working on 10 drafts for his essays and he got in. I connected with him recently and he’s doing really well. He’s on the Dean’s list as a math major.
